Skin care in the context of fitness and performance enhancement refers to the maintenance and protection of skin health, which can be significantly affected by the use of anabolic steroids, SARMs, peptides, and other performance-enhancing compounds. One of the most common skin-related side effects of steroid use is acne, which can range from mild breakouts to severe cystic acne across the face, back, and chest. This occurs because elevated androgen levels stimulate the sebaceous glands to produce excess oil, clogging pores and leading to inflammation. Other skin concerns include stretch marks from rapid muscle growth, oily skin, and increased body hair.

Managing skin health during and after a cycle requires a consistent and targeted approach. A basic routine should include a gentle cleanser, exfoliant, and non-comedogenic moisturizer to keep pores clear and skin balanced. For acne specifically, topical treatments containing benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid can be effective for mild cases, while more severe cases may require prescription treatments such as antibiotics or Accutane (isotretinoin) under medical supervision. Staying well hydrated, maintaining a clean diet, and changing workout clothing frequently to avoid bacteria buildup are also important habits. Addressing skin care proactively rather than reactively is always the best approach, particularly for those using compounds known to impact hormonal levels.
